And here we find ourselves at another Full Moon. That magical, mystical time when the light of the sun completely fills up the moon. If the atmosphere is just right, you can look up into the night sky and see a ring, an aura around the moon and imagine that she is so full, literally spilling over with energy from the Sun. The Sun being the masculine energy and the Moon being feminine, the period of the Full Moon represents the sacred union of opposites. Not male and female GENDER specifically, but the masculine and feminine energies that keep everything in the Universe in balance. In ancient Pagan traditions, the High Priestess would complete the Full Moon ritual by having sex with the High Priest in a symbolic act of the Sun and Moon joining energies. Certainly, during Full Moon phases, due to our response to the gravitational pull of the moon, we can feel a certain “magnetism” within us…a drawing out to be more social. This Tuesday, June 2, tap into your lunar intuition and go mingle!
This month’s moon is named The Strawberry Moon because the Native American tribes (where we get our moon names, and thankfully where I get my magickal ancestry) would harvest the red, ripe juicy berries during this month. As I write this, I am looking out at my own little patch of growing strawberries, which are quickly becoming squirrel snacks, and I grin. I tried. The Moon is in the sign of Sagittarius, with the Sun in Gemini. As I have mentioned before, I am a Ritualist, not an Astrologer so I won’t take much time delving into the meanings of that but I need to touch on it. The moon in Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is all about luck, and a constant quest for philosophy and truth. Gemini is ruled by Mercury which is the house of communication, talking and intellect. Together, we have a strong case of mental WANDERLUST. Do you feel me? This Full Moon cycle may have you in a cauldron of bubbling fantasies of a gypsy life on the road, backpacking through Europe, climbing a mountain, or just taking a spontaneous road trip! Cast off anything that is holding you back from your best self, thats what we do on a Full Moon! My only caution, from an astrological perspective is to possibly pause until June 11th or so to make big plans or just jump ship and take off. Let Mercury come out of retrograde, but by all means… DREAM BIG!
And now, for the Ritual.
A Journal or BOS
Photos of your dream journeys
Dried Oak Moss (if you have an esoteric shop. If not, use Bach’s Flower Essence Rock Water)
Red Candle, Yellow Candle
Fire or heat safe burning vessel
Any day within the 3 days period surrounding the Full Moon (day before, day of, day after), collect your supplies, find your quiet space and quiet your mind in meditation. Visualize the glowing fullness of the Moon, spilling over with light from the sun. See yourself bathed in light; first in sunlight, warm and smiling, then in moonlight, cool and mystical. Picture yourself lying in a field of ripe strawberries. If you have some, now would be the time to have them! Leave one or two on your altar or Sacred Space as an offering. Now, Take you journal or BOS, and without thinking just being to write about what you dream of seeing in the world, things you want to learn about. This has no rules. Imagine there were no work, no restrictions, no excuses and nothing holding you back. See it very clearly in your mind and write. Take any photos you have collected and attach them in a collage inside the journal or BOS also. Sprinkle some dried Oak Moss in the pages, or a drop or two of Rock Water to solidify your intent and make it real. This is as if you are summoning, calling in where you want to go, things you want to see, adventures you will have! Call it all in. Now, on a torn out piece of paper from the same journal or BOS, write down one word. That word is FEAR. Fold the paper.
Light the red candle, giving thanks to the South and the element of fire for creation and destruction. Then, light the yellow candle, giving thanks to the East and the element of air for the winds of change.
Light your folded paper, one end from the red candle (representing Sagittarius and the Moon) and the other end from the yellow candle (representing Mercury and the Sun).
Burning your FEAR at both ends, RELEASE IT. And so it is.
Now, go wander. Happy enchanting, my friends !⭐️⭐️
