Light the Way. Moving forward with vision and purpose. A ritual for the New Moon in Sagittarius.

The new or “dark” moon is always seen as a period of mystical visioning, receptivity and new beginnings. If you were to compare the moon to a chalice, it is at the new moon that the chalice has been poured out and is now ready to be filled again with a fresh fragrant brew of intentions. As the moon moves into Sagittarius, we come into a gateway like a horse at the ready. It is as if our gas tanks have been filled, shiny new tires placed on and we know the course like we know the back roads of our hometown.
Moon rituals, be they New Moon or Full Moon, are powerful ways to establish a connection between yourself and the cosmic energy. For all measurable time, sun and moon cycles have governed planting, harvesting, fertility, and even mythology.
Try this ritual with a group of friends, your family, perhaps your yoga class… And connect with all other cosmic forces at play right now by manifesting your vision and clearly stating where you see yourself heading, no reigns, no brakes and no self-doubt.
Under the dark sky, call a circle, giving each participant an unlit candle. Begin at the cardinal direction of the east by stating what it is you want to move towards or into. This moon is all about moving forward…
Then light your candle. As the next person states her vision, share your light.. And so on until the circle is lit. By the end, you have a circle of light and visions.
When the circle of light and visions has been made complete, you represent the dark potential of the new moon in the center, and the light of the full moon which will bring these intentions into action over the next few weeks. Have a silent moment to take in both the darkness and the light, the potential and the result. Visualize your finish line!

It is done! Have everyone extinguish their candles in unison, and keep them to place on their sacred space during the light of the full moon as a reminder vision.

Happy Enchanting!
